Do you feel awkward in front of the camera?

The word "photogenic" is defined as “looking attractive in photographs or on film” or (of an organism or tissue) producing or emitting light. In other words, photogenic means looking good and being able to shine your light (literally and metaphorically).

Here are my 6 tips for becoming more photogenic:

1. Wear comfortable clothes

Nothing that squeezes too tight, feels like it's a size too big or too small. Something flattering that you feel good in.

2. Use props

Hold something if you feel awkward and unsure what to do with your hands. A flower, a scarf, an incense stick, a book, a notepad, a pet, a child...

3. Connect with the photographer first

It's important that you trust your photographer and feel at ease in front of them and their lens. You can also ask them for a phone call before the day of the photoshoot. On the big day, spend some time talking about life and things that connect you.

4. Use natural light

Nothing is better than natural light for a home or outdoor photoshoot. You can always opt for a studio session if you need specific photos and effects, but if you want to look natural, stick to natural light!

5. Keep your back straight

Few things make you look as insecure as a slouched posture. Take a deep breath and lean your shoulders back. This way, you’ll look much more confident and at ease.

6. Show authentic emotions

The camera loves real emotions. If you want to portray your positive side, think of something funny and laugh. To show mindfulness, think about something or someone you're grateful for. If you want your facial expression to be thoughtful, think of serious things.

If you want a photoshoot that will capture your authentic beauty, get in touch! I'll help you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera, and we'll create images that you'll love for years to come.
